Bound in Sorrow Week 7: A Guardian's First-Person Journey
Destiny 2 Bound in Sorrow Week 7 finale guide: conquer Nightmare Containment and Catharsis to end the Haunted Leviathan’s haunting story.
Have you ever finished a questline and felt like you were saying goodbye to a piece of yourself? That was me during Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted, in the Bound in Sorrow Week 7 finale. After saving Crow, Commander Zavala, and Caiatl from the Nightmares, I thought the worst was over. Even now, in 2026, I still remember the weight of every step. The season is old, the sandbox has changed, but the story remains one of my favorite Guardian memories. So let me walk you through the final week as if I were loading into the HELM again.

Step 47 - Speak With Eris at the Crown of Sorrow in the HELM
I opened the Director, selected the HELM, and walked to the Crown of Sorrow. Eris Morn waited there, her voice low and sharp. She told me the final missions of Bound in Sorrow were ready. No more wandering. No more nightmares hiding in the corners. It was time to cut the Leviathan's connection to the Pyramid.
Steps 48 & 49 - Complete Tiers of Nightmare Containment and Create a Bound Presence

Next, I flew to the Castellum on the Moon. The task was simple on paper: complete three tiers of Nightmare Containment. Did they all have to be successful? No. Even a failure counted, which was a small mercy. At the end of Tier 3, I had to interact with the Harvester to create a Bound Presence. But there was a catch: I needed at least 500 Vestiges of Dread. If you are short, farm them in the Derelict Leviathan or jump into Crucible. I learned that lesson the hard way.
The Tier 3 boss fight had changed, too. When the boss gained immunity, it spawned three Abominations. That is not a fight I would recommend solo. Bring at least two friends if you want to finish it successfully. Trust me, the extra firepower matters.
Step 50 - Complete the Catharsis Mission

This was the big one. Catharsis appeared on the left side of the Castellum on the Moon, with a recommended Power Level of 1560. I launched it with a mix of excitement and dread. The mission started with a bunch of enemies and a mini-boss. After clearing them, I interacted with a door to open it. Then I pushed through the Throne corridors until I reached a round platform covered with Nightmares above it. The platform descended, leading me to a portal to the Chantry of the Darkest Hour.
Inside, I fought Calus alongside Caiatl. It was a three-phase battle. Special weapons spawned next to the Harvester, and I used them to deal the utmost damage to Calus. At the end of each phase, I had to return to Caiatl and stand next to the Harvester, inside the shield. If the enemies destroyed the Harvester, the run could fall apart. So I kept my eyes on the shield, the adds, and Caiatl all at once. When the final phase ended, a cinematic cut-scene played. I will not spoil it, but it hit harder than any loot drop.
Step 51 - Speak With Eris at the Crown of Sorrow in the HELM
Finally, I returned to the HELM for one last time. Eris gave me my rewards and closed out the season's story-driven questline. It felt strange to stand there after everything. The Nightmares were quiet. The Leviathan was no longer whispering. I had ended Calus' corrupted plans, at least for that chapter.
| Step | Objective | My Tip |
|---|---|---|
| 47 | Speak with Eris at the Crown of Sorrow | Do not skip the dialogue |
| 48 & 49 | Complete Nightmare Containment tiers and create Bound Presence | Keep 500+ Vestiges of Dread ready |
| 50 | Complete Catharsis | Bring a fireteam and use Harvester weapons |
| 51 | Return to Eris | Enjoy the ending |
So, was Bound in Sorrow worth it? Absolutely. In 2026, I still tell new Lights about it. It was not just a checklist of steps. It was a goodbye, a boss fight, and a story about grief wrapped in space magic. If you ever replay Season of the Haunted, take your time. Listen to Eris. Stand with Caiatl. And when the cinematic rolls, let yourself feel it. 🎮🌙
