Festival of the Lost 2024: A Ghostly Celebration in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2024 delivers thrilling new loot and exotic class items, making this Halloween event a must-play for Guardians.

As Guardians, we are no strangers to the annual traditions that bind us to the game we love. The Festival of the Lost is one such tradition, a Halloween-themed event that brings with it a wave of excitement, new loot, and a chance to celebrate in our own unique way. This year, Bungie has outdone themselves, revealing all the details for Festival of the Lost 2024, and I can't help but be caught up in the poetic spirit of the event.

I am a Guardian, and the Festival of the Lost is a time when the veil between the living and the dead grows thin. It is a time when we honor those who have fallen, when we remember the sacrifices made, and when we come together to celebrate in the face of darkness. The air is thick with the scent of decay, the whispers of the dead echo through the corridors of the Tower, and yet, there is a sense of camaraderie, a shared purpose that transcends the fear.

The Festival of the Lost is a time of masks and mysteries, a time when the Tower is transformed into a haunted wonderland. Every year, Bungie unveils new surprises, new weapons, and new armor that reflect the spirit of the season. This year is no exception, with the Festival of the Lost 2024 bringing with it a slew of new content that is sure to delight every Destiny 2 player.

The level of controversy that erupted alongside the Dual Destiny mission and these exotic class items certainly reached a fever pitch, but with Festival of the Lost now opening them up to everyone during the event, all Destiny 2 fans should now be pleased. Inside of The Final Shape expansion, Destiny 2 added the first exotic class items. Leading up to the expansion's release, anticipation was high as these items not only featured two perks, but ones taken from other exotics, sometimes from other classes. However, controversy arose when these items were placed inside a 2 player mission called Dual Destiny, essentially dividing the community over being forced to run a non-matchmaking activity with another player.

Bungie listened to player feedback on the exotic class items, and opened up new ways to farm the items, though still requiring at least 1 completion of Dual Destiny first. However, as Destiny 2 's annual Halloween event , Festival of the Lost, arrives on October 29, Bungie is finally breaking the rules and has confirmed that for the first time, the exotic class items can be purchased directly from Eva in exchange for one Eerie Engram and 2500 Candy. Players can buy as many as they want and doing so will make the items available for purchase from Xur and farmable in Overthrow chests from The Pale Heart, with the only requirement being The Final Shape expansion.

Alongside the exotic class item change, Festival of the Lost once again brings back traditional elements like the Haunted Sectors, Eerie Engrams, and restoring the Book of the Forgotten. What's new for the event this year is a Heavy Burst arc shotgun named Arcane Embrace, which is a two-round burst that not only hits very hard, but is great against Barrier Champions. Classic Destiny 2 Festival weapons like Jurassic Green, Braytech Werewolf, Acosmic, and Mechabre also have refreshed perk pools as well.

On top of all that, the popular Superblack shader from Destiny 2 's Into the Light update makes its return for those who complete all 15 challenges, alongside the Lost Memento as a random drop after finishing the Twilight Triumph. This year also brings Wizard-themed armor sets, with Evil variants for Hunters and Warlocks, while Titans chose the good variant."
