It was a grind, but eventually I had five data packets ready for extraction.

The Final Packet in Maya’s Retreat

With five packets in hand, I needed one more. My map showed a waypoint leading to Maya’s Retreat, a familiar place in the southwest part of the map near Liming Harbor. I followed it through twisting Vex architecture until I arrived at an area I recognized from the campaign. It was here that I had to withstand a Vex attack – waves of goblins, hobgoblins, and fanatics swarming me from all sides. I kept moving, using my abilities and heavy weapons to thin the crowd. It was chaotic, but soon the last Vex fell and the final data packet was mine.

A Heated Discussion in Radiosonde

Next, I headed to Radiosonde, following the quest marker deep into a building filled with Vex. I fought through hallways and rooms, occasionally getting locked in until I cleared the enemies. It felt like a standard patrol, but what waited at the end was anything but: Osiris and Nimbus arguing about our mission. I stood there quietly, listening to the tension between them before they seemed to reach an understanding. The step completed, and I was one stride closer.

Retrieving the Vex Compass

Now I had to brave the Thrilladrome Lost Sector in Liming Harbor. The waypoint guided me to an unassuming building, but the trick was finding a vent in one of the upper corners. After breaking it open, I dropped into the neon-lit arcade turned Vex playground. I fought through the retro gaming hellscape, dodging traps and lasers, until I reached a portal and defeated a large Hydra. With the Vex Compass now in my inventory, I could finally pinpoint the next target.

Chaos in Ahimsa Park

The next task was pure, unadulterated fun. I went to Ahimsa Park and was told to kill one hundred Shadow Cabal. Better yet, ability kills counted for extra progress. I tore through the park like a hurricane, my grenades and melee attacks turning the area into a war zone. It didn’t take long to hit the target, and I found myself smiling for the first time since the funeral.

The Seed of Silver Wings

Then came a somber return to Typhon Imperator, Calus’s massive ship. I walked through its opulent halls, blasting Cabal aside, until I reached the arena from the “Downfall” campaign mission—the same room where I had been rescued by Caiatl. This time, I had to defeat waves of Cabal while grabbing two resources from opposite corners of the room. It was a test of focus, switching between combat and collection. Once I secured both, I made my way back to Nimbus.

The Final Mission: What Remains

All the preparation led to this. I launched the “What Remains” mission, which whisked me away to the Black Garden. The path was linear, filled with Vex and Taken, and a few tricky platforming sections that my Strand subclass made manageable. Midway through the mission, I was rewarded with Deterministic Chaos itself—a heavy machine gun that pulsed with a strange energy. But the mission wasn’t over. I pushed forward, reaching the Conceptual Mind, a towering three-phase Hydra. With my new exotic spitting volatile rounds, I chipped away at its health while dodging explosive Harpies. The fight was intense, but the weapon proved its worth, and soon the boss was history.

Closure at the Hall of Heroes

After the mission, I returned to Nimbus one last time. His words were heavier now, a mixture of gratitude and lingering grief. Then came the final step: returning to the Hall of Heroes. I approached the monument in the center and interacted with it, triggering a cutscene where Osiris and Nimbus shared a moment of connection over their loss. As the screen faded, I felt a sense of completion—not just of a quest, but of a story. Deterministic Chaos was mine, but far more importantly, I had helped a friend finish what he and Rohan started.

Looking back, Unfinished Business was more than an exotic quest. It was a journey through grief, memory, and the bonds that hold a fireteam together. And in 2026, even after all the new content Destiny 2 has delivered, this mission remains one of my favorite memories on Neomuna.
