My Guide to Completing Destiny 2's Final Season of the Wish Challenges

Season of the Wish Seasonal Challenges guide offers expert strategies for XP, Bright Dust, and Triumphs in Destiny 2’s final 2026 week.

As a dedicated Guardian, I’ve spent the last few weeks of 2026 immersed in the Season of the Wish, and now the final set of Seasonal Challenges has arrived. Bungie, true to form, has released this last batch of time-sensitive Triumphs, offering a massive infusion of XP and Bright Dust for those willing to put in the work. This final week presents seven distinct challenges, each with its own flavor and requirements. From hunting down elusive Starcats to testing my mettle in the Crucible, the tasks are varied and demand a strategic approach. I’ve found that tackling them efficiently requires a blend of preparation and knowing the right tricks. Let me walk you through my personal experience and strategies for conquering each one.

The first challenge on my list was the Nyahamkara Hunt. The objective was simple: find seven of Queen Mara's loyal Starcat companions. 😺 I knew from previous seasons that these collectibles are often cleverly hidden. This season, most of them are tucked away within the labyrinthine corridors of Riven's Lair and the challenging pathways of The Coil activity. I didn't want to waste time searching blindly, so I consulted a reliable collectible guide. Focusing on the seven easiest to reach, I made a mini-adventure out of it. The feeling of finding each one, a small glowing feline figure in a hidden nook, was surprisingly rewarding. It’s a peaceful break from the usual combat grind.

Next up was Throne World Activities. This challenge required me to complete bounties and earn progress through patrols, public events, and looting Lost Sectors in Savathûn's Throne World. My strategy was straightforward and efficient: I camped out near the friendly ghost, Fynch. I’d grab every bounty he offered, then dive into a nearby Lost Sector. I created a versatile loadout designed to handle multiple bounty types at once—maybe a Solar weapon for one, a Void ability for another. By repeatedly clearing a single, fast Lost Sector, I could knock out bounties and earn activity progress simultaneously. It was a bit repetitive, but seeing the challenge completion pop up after a short farming session made it worthwhile.

The Last Rites challenge asked for 100 ability final blows in Crucible, Gambit, or Vanguard activities, with bonus progress for defeating Guardians. While PvP kills are worth more, I found the enemy density in PvE to be far more reliable for a quick finish. I loaded into the Vanguard Ops playlist with a build focused purely on ability regeneration. Here’s what worked best for me across my characters:

  • On my Hunter: I used the Arcstrider subclass with the Lethal Current aspect and Assassin's Cowl exotic helmet. Punching enemies with Combination Blow not only healed and made me invisible but also counted toward the challenge with every kill.

  • On my Titan: Sunbreaker with Synthoceps was my go-to. The Throwing Hammer is a perfect, refundable ability kill. For a more explosive option, Pyrogale Gauntlets with the Consecration aspect created waves of Solar fire that wiped out groups.

  • On my Warlock: I had great success with Stormcaller using the Fallen Sunstar exotic. By building heavily into generating Ionic Traces, my grenade and melee abilities were almost always ready.

This approach turned the challenge into a fun experiment with different playstyles rather than a tedious grind.

Then came the PvP-focused tasks. Most Dangerous Prey required 50 Guardian defeats in Gambit or Crucible. I personally prefer the controlled chaos of the Crucible over Gambit’s hybrid mode for this. Any playlist works, but I hopped into the weekly rotating playlist. Modes like Mayhem or Team Scorched are fast, chaotic, and perfect for racking up defeats without the pressure of a super competitive match. If you're a solo player, Rumble is also a solid choice where every encounter counts toward your goal.

The Momentum Crash challenge is more specific, demanding 50 Guardian defeats within the Momentum Control playlist. This mode is a thrilling twist on Control. With drastically reduced health, the time-to-kill is lightning fast, abilities recharge slowly, and precision is king. I had to adjust my usual run-and-gun tactics. I crafted a loadout centered on long-range, high-precision weapons. Scout Rifles and Bows absolutely dominate here. I found myself playing more cautiously, holding sightlines and landing those critical headshots. Capturing zones also grants bonus progress, so playing the objective actively speeds up your completion. It’s a punishing but incredibly satisfying game mode once you get the rhythm.

For Bank, Kill, Repeat, I ventured into Gambit. The challenge asks you to earn 50 points by banking Motes, defeating Blockers, and defeating invading Guardians. I focused on the two most consistent actions: banking Motes and killing Blockers. My routine was simple: clear a wave of enemies, collect 5 or 10 Motes (never greed for 15!), and immediately bank them. This frequent banking not only earns points but also spawns small Blockers for the enemy. Then, I’d guard our bank, ready to melt any Blockers that appeared with a powerful shotgun or fusion rifle. The point requirement felt very forgiving this season; I completed it in just two or three matches without even trying for invasion kills.

The final major challenge was Calibrate Long Range. This one tasked me with defeating 200 enemies using Pulse Rifles, Bows, or Trace Rifles, with bonus progress for Guardian defeats. While PvP gives a boost, I wanted a stress-free, rapid completion. I headed to one of Destiny's classic enemy-dense farming locations. My personal favorite is the Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wish raid. Using the wish wall to teleport there, I could spawn a massive wave of Taken thrall and pick them off with my chosen long-range weapon. For those without the raid, the opening encounter of the Grasp of Avarice dungeon is fantastic. If you lack any DLC, a great free-to-play option is the Extraction Lost Sector in the Throne World. During the plate-capturing segment, you can step off the plate to prevent progress, causing enemies to spawn infinitely. It’s a perfect, quiet spot to calibrate your weapons.

Completing this final set of Seasonal Challenges for the Season of the Wish felt like a fitting capstone to the year's adventures. The variety ensured I touched almost every aspect of the game—exploration, PvE, and PvP. The rewards, especially that hefty chunk of XP and Bright Dust, were more than welcome as I prepare for whatever mysteries 2027 holds for us Guardians. My biggest takeaway? Always have a plan. Whether it's a specific loadout, a farming route, or a preferred game mode, a little preparation turns these challenges from a grind into a series of engaging, focused goals. Now, if you'll excuse me, there are still a few Starcats out there with my name on them.
