Surviving the Vex Glitch: My Thrilladrome Lost Sector Story
Thrilladrome Lost Sector guide and Liming Harbor entrance tips help players conquer Destiny 2’s most memorable Vex arcade challenge.
I still remember the first time I dropped into Liming Harbor back in 2023, fresh out of the Lightfall campaign, chasing that Exotic quest step for Unfinished Business. Even now, in 2026, with all the new destinations and weapons we’ve gathered, the Thrilladrome Lost Sector stands as a vivid memory — a perfect storm of neon-soaked Vex architecture, claustrophobic arcades, and a boss fight that taught me patience. I’ve guided dozens of kinderguardians through this place over the years, and every run feels like a wild glitch in reality that refuses to be patched. Let me walk you through it, just like I did back then, because the fundamentals haven’t aged a day.
Finding the entrance is the first puzzle. Head to the northern edge of Liming Harbor and look for a building marked with the Lost Sector symbol. There’s a door, but the real path is hidden. Step inside, jump onto the central decoration, and then mantel up to the second floor on your right. You’ll see a small vent cover that’s sealed tight. A single shot tears it open, revealing a claustrophobic crawlspace that drops you straight into the retro-themed nightmare.

The first arcade room slaps you awake. A glowing, shielded Hydra orbits near the center, and a Quantum Hobgoblin perched on an upper ledge will delete you before you blink. I learned fast that long-range precision is king here. A scout rifle or linear fusion rifle makes quick work of the Hobgoblin if you tackle it first. Clear the room, and you’ll face two more arcade chambers stuffed with Goblins and Minotaurs. These aren’t a big threat — a wave-frame grenade launcher or a trusty shotgun cleans them out while you hum along with the pulsing synth beats echoing off the walls.

Once the third room goes quiet, a white glowing circle on the floor catches your eye. Kill the Circumstantial Controller walking around, and that circle erupts into a portal. Stepping through feels like being swallowed by a corrupted arcade machine. You’re dumped into a Vex simulation where platforms materialize and vanish over a bottomless void. Patience is your only ally. Wait for the first platform to spawn, then hop onto it and follow the fleeting path to the solid ground on the right.

The boss arena opens up, and immediately a sniper — the Circumstantial Avatar — rains fire from atop a Vex pillar on the far end. I cannot stress this enough: kill that Avatar first. Use a linear fusion or a precision scout rifle from the relative safety of the platform you just landed on. Duck behind the wall when you need to reload, but keep an eye on the Cyclops right next to you. A section of that wall periodically phases out of existence, and one stray blast from the Cyclops will end your run faster than a Tower loading screen.

When the Avatar falls, it drops an Arc Cranium — a Vex energy orb you can pick up. Turn right and blast the glowing Vex cubes surrounding the Cyclops. Those cubes shield it, and the Arc Cranium is the only way to strip them. Once the Cyclops is exposed, drop the Arc Cranium and destroy the Cyclops with your own heavy hitter. Then grab the Cranium again; this is your key to melting the boss. The Strategic Hydra appears, a monstrosity with three rotating shields that demand concentrated damage.

I found a sneaky cover spot that still works wonders. After entering the arena, stay on the very first platform you spawned on (the one closest to the portal). There’s a wall — let’s call it Wall A — that provides a perfect view of the boss while shielding you from most of his minions. You can shoot from either side of the wall and duck into the gap to reload or heal. The Hydra’s attacks have a small area-of-effect blast, so peek quickly to force him to redirect his shots. Just remember that a second Circumstantial Avatar will spawn far across the arena, along with smaller Hydras and Minotaurs. Take out the Avatar as soon as he appears, then refocus on the boss.

Weapons have evolved a lot since Lightfall, but the old reliables still shine. A linear fusion rifle remains the top choice for precise boss damage, with rocket launchers close behind. If you’re lucky enough to have Deterministic Chaos, the Exotic machine gun introduced back then, its volatile rounds make the Hydra’s shields look like wet paper. Combine that with an Arc Cranium and you’ll melt the boss in two or three phases.
What makes the Thrilladrome Lost Sector so memorable isn’t just the enemies — it’s the atmosphere. The warped arcade screens, the disjointed geometry, and the sudden platforming all feel like a glitch that became art. Even solo flawless attempts, with the right loadout and a calm trigger finger, turn into a dance. So strap on your favorite pulse rifle, grab a Linear, and show those Vex that some things never get old. Good luck out there, Guardian. 🕹️
